A great thought provoking article was published at The Hub for Just Kids’ Lit on the subject of Saving the Future of Our Environment is Not an Inconvenience by Anne Donnelly.
I did some digging for an Australian voice on this subject and found the attached Choice article. It’s from 2016 and has not bee updated since the decision by Woolworths to ban the plastic bag.
My parents always carried the cotton bags or string bags through the World War 2 – it was just habit. One that I’ve gotten into and always have a bag in my handbag or backpack for shopping. It’s lazy to decry that bringing your own bag can impact your shopping experience. Most people wouldn’t leave home without their mobile phone, so why not bring your own bag? Just get organised and have one handy. I keep some in the shoebox, some in the car, some near the door at home – all to be collected as I’m leaving the house.
Do you reuse your plastic bags? Or are you like me with a collection of cotton and string bags that are being reused constantly?
