Well I wrangled the family out of the house, and into the garden this afternoon. And then insisted they all help harvest some veggies and fruit. So from our humble back garden we have a six huge beetroots, over two kilos of lovely home grown spuds, kilos of yellow and red tomatoes, and six cucumbers. Not bad for the half an hour it took them to harvest it all.
And I managed to fill up my compost bin in the process, so now I have to work on my next one.
I love cooking with these fruits and veggies, there is something astounding knowing we’ve grown them from seed, and also from spuds. Now I’m busy planning to empty out the beds and think about what I’ll be planting over winter. We’re still eating some divine purple garlic, and I may have to sacrifice a few cloves for my next sowing of them.
Life is good.
