Oh the joy of a summer cold, when the outside temperature is scorching, and I’m wandering around the house – which is not airconditioned, in my winter pajammas, complaining I’m freezing. The joy of another cold brought home by my darling son. He shakes them off, and then leaves me and my long suffering partner to get through them the best we can.
Which in my case, is raw garlic, lemon and honey drinks, and lots of sleep. I don’t or rather can’t take cold and flu medication – unless I don’t want to sleep for a couple of days. So I just make do with nasal spray and panadols.
I also have to thank my frugal heart for the split pea and vegetable soup I made a month or so ago – from the homemade stock, to the lovely vegetables that needed to be quickly used up. The soup was just what my sore throat needed.
Now my question to you is – how do you cope with colds? Do you have a special soup or remedy handed down that helps you get through them? Especially the notorious summer cold…..I would love to hear from you about them.
